Theatre-Based Simulation

Get hands on experiential team training.

The University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre (uOSSC) houses four state-of-the-art Theatre-Based Simulation Rooms.

Our facility includes two operating rooms, one intensive care room and one labour and delivery suite/emergency room. These rooms are built to clinical standards to ensure life-like experiences. Everything a trainee would find in their clinical setting is available during simulations. These rooms are equipped with multiple cameras and microphones to capture and allow playback for debriefing purposes.

Full-body manikin simulators recreate patient care scenarios in hospital wards, the emergency room, the intensive care unit and the operation room. The computer-driven manikins speak, breathe, have pulses and heartbeat sounds, and respond accurately to medications, fluids and chest compressions.
